New Hampshire Unemployment Wage Base to Increase for 2012
The New Hampshire Department of Employment Security has announced an increase in the taxable wage base for 2012. The wage base will increase from $12,000 for 2011 to $14,000 for 2012.

Third Consecutive Year the Wage Base Has Increased

This is the third consecutive year the wage base will increase. In 2010, it increased from $8,000 to $10,000 and in 2011 it increased from $10,000 to $12,000.

Illinois Unemployment Wage Base to Increase to $12,520
The Illinois Department of Employment Security has announced an increase in the taxable wage base for 2010. The wage base will increase from $12,520 for 2010 to $12,740 for 2011.

Minimum and Maximum Rates Also Increase

The minimum employer rate for 2011 will increase to 0.700% from 0.650% and the maximum rate for 2011 will increase to 8.400% from 7.250%

New Hampshire Unemployment Wage Base to Increase to $12,000 in 2011

The New Hampshire Department of Employment Security has announced an increase in the taxable wage base for 2011. The wage base will increase from $10,000 for 2010 to $12,000 for 2011. The taxable wage base will also increase to $14,000 for 2012. New Hampshire Adds Emergency Power Surcharge to Employer Tax Rates

According to the New Hampshire Department of Employment Security, because of the amount of unemployment benefits that were paid out over the last couple of years there have been legislative changes made. The department invoked RSA282-A: 84 – Emergency Power for the last 3 quarters of 2009, which added a 0.5% surcharge onto all employer tax rates. For all quarters of 2010, a full 1.0% surcharge will be added to all employer tax rates. Negative rated employers (employers whose benefit charges exceeded tax paid) will have a 1.5% added to their tax rates in addition to the 1.0% surcharge for all quarters of 2010.

The New Hampshire Department of Employment Security has announced an increase in the taxable wage base for 2010. The wage base will increase from $8,000 for 2009 to $10,000 for 2010. The taxable wage base will also increase to $12,000 for 2011 and $14,000 for 2012. Illinois Unemployment Wage Base to Increase to $12,300

Maureen T. O’Donnell, Director of the State of Illinois Department of Employment Security announced recently that the 2009 unemployment wage base has increased from $12,000 to $12,300. O’Donnell, appointed by Governor Rod R. Blagojevich in August, had served as Acting Director since March 2007. In addition, the minimum rate, the maximum rate, and the fund building rate all decreased from 0.8% to 0.6%, from 7.2% to 6.8%, and from 0.6% to 0.4%, respectively.
