IRS Increases Standard Mileage Rate to 56.5 Cents per Mile for 2013
The standard mileage rates for the use of automobiles beginning January 1, 2013 will be 56.5 cents per mile for business miles driven and 24 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes the Internal Revenue Service announced in Notice 2012-72 and News Release IR-2012-95.

Both Rates Are Higher than 2012 Rates

The new rates are changed from 55.5 cents per mile for business travel and 23 cents per mile for moving and medical travel for 2012.

Charitable Rate Remains Unchanged

The rate for miles driven in service of charitable organizations remains the same at 14 cents per mile.

IRS Increases Standard Mileage Rate to 55.5 Cents per Mile
The standard mileage rates for the use of automobiles beginning July 1, 2011 will be 55.5 cents per mile for business miles driven and 23.5 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes the Internal Revenue Service announced in Announcement 2011-40 and News Release IR-2011-69.

Both Rates Are Higher than First Six Months of 2011

The new rates are changed from 51 cents per mile for business travel and 19 cents per mile for moving and medical travel for the first six months of 2011.

Charitable Rate Remains Unchanged

The rate for miles driven in service of charitable organizations remains the same at 14 cents per mile.

The standard mileage rates for the use of automobiles beginning January 1, 2011 will be 51 cents per mile for business miles driven and 19 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes the Internal Revenue Service announced in Revenue Procedure 2010-51 and News Release IR-2010-119.

Both Rates Are Higher than 2010 Rates

The new rates are changed from 50 cents per mile for business travel and 16.5 cents per mile for moving and medical travel for 2010.

Charitable Rate Remains Unchanged

The rate for miles driven in service of charitable organizations remains the same at 14 cents per mile.

Tip of the Week: IRS Reduces Standard Mileage Rate to 50 Cents per Mile

The standard mileage rates for the use of automobiles beginning January 1, 2010 will be 50 cents per mile for business miles driven and 16.5 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes the Internal Revenue Service announced in Revenue Procedure 2009-54 and News Release IR-2009-111. The new rates are changed from 55 cents per mile for business travel, 24 cents per mile for moving and medical travel for 2009. IRS Decreases 2009 Mileage Rate to 55 Cents per Mile

The standard mileage rates for the use of automobiles beginning January 1, 2009 will be 55 cents per mile for business miles driven and 24 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes, the Internal Revenue Service announced yesterday in IR-2008-131. The new rates are changed from 58.5 cents per mile for business travel and 27 cents per mile for moving and medical travel for the second half of 2008. IRS Increases Mileage Rate to 58.5 Cents per Mile

The standard mileage rates for the use of automobiles beginning July 1, 2008 will be 58.5 cents per mile for business miles driven and 27 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes, the Internal Revenue Service announced June 23 (IR-2008-82; Announcement 2008-63; Revenue Procedure 2007-70 is modified). The new rates are changed from 50.5 cents per mile for business travel and 19 cents per mile for moving and medical travel for the first half of 2008. The rate for miles driven in service of charitable organizations has remained the same at 14 cents per mile.
